For individuals
Two people, the same age, very different biology.
That difference is what these measurements are for. Not a verdict, and not a number to worry about. A starting point you go through with a clinician who knows your history.

What is actually measured
Small chemical marks on your DNA, read as a pattern.
Your DNA sequence barely changes through your life. What changes is how readily different parts of it are read, and that is partly controlled by methyl groups sitting on the DNA itself.
Those marks shift with age, environment and health. Reading enough of them gives a picture of how your biology compares with a reference population, and of where the picture is more settled or less settled across different systems in the body.
It is a measurement, not a diagnosis. Bring it to your clinician.
5-methylcytosine. The gold methyl group is the modification the analysis reads.

Being straight with you
What it can tell you, and what it cannot.
Some of this is well established, and some of it is early research. We will always tell you which is which. That is not a caveat we are obliged to print. It is the reason to trust the parts that are solid.
A result cannot tell you what will happen to you. It cannot find or rule out a disease. And a number from one company’s test cannot be compared with a number from another, because they are built on different models and different reference populations.
Two halves, the same length
Four things a measurement can tell you, and four it cannot. Gold marks the one that only a second measurement can answer.

A starting point, not a verdict
A measurement describes where you are today. What you do with that is a conversation, and it belongs with someone who knows the rest of your history.
From the first question to the follow-up
Five stations, and a branch that ends in a stop. Sometimes the honest answer is that a measurement is not relevant for you right now.
Why it goes through a clinic
Because a result is easier to use when someone knows you.
We do not sell tests directly in most markets, and that is a decision rather than a limitation. A number without context is something to worry about. The same number next to your history is something to act on.
The clinician also helps with the part before the measurement: whether it is worth doing at all for you, right now. Some of the time the answer is no, and you should expect to hear it.
In several countries, a test of this kind may only be offered through a clinician. Where that is the case, it is the law rather than our preference, and it points the same way.

What arrives
A report, and a person to read it with.
The sample takes a few minutes. What comes back is a report with the laboratory’s name on it, the date your sample was taken, and a section that says what the measurement does not show.
That last section is the one we are proudest of. It is also the one to read first.

Directory in preparation
There are no clinics listed on this page, and that is deliberate. A searchable directory with names, cities and what each clinic offers is being built alongside the partner portal. Until every clinic in it has confirmed what it offers and in which market, we would rather answer you by hand than publish a list we cannot stand behind.

Questions
What people ask us.
What is my biological age?
Chronological age counts the years since you were born. Biological age is an estimate of how your body compares with a reference population of people at different ages. The two can differ, and they can differ in one direction for one physiological system and the other direction for another.
Can I buy a test directly?
In most markets, no. We work through clinics and healthcare providers, because a result is easier to use when someone who knows your history goes through it with you. Tell us where you are and we will point you to a partner clinic.
How do I find a clinic near me?
Write to us with your country and city. A searchable directory is being built with the partner portal, and until every clinic in it has confirmed what it offers, we would rather answer you by hand than publish a list we cannot stand behind.
Will a test tell me if I am ill?
No. These are non-diagnostic measurements. They describe patterns in a sample, not a disease, and they do not replace a consultation, a scan or a blood test your doctor has asked for.
What does it cost?
The clinic sets the price, because the clinic is also the one giving you the time to go through the result. Ask them for the full price including the consultation, and ask what a repeat measurement would cost, because that is the one that shows a change.
How long does a result take?
It depends on the test. The clinic will give you a date range before you provide the sample, and you will hear from them when the report is ready.
Should I test again?
Often, yes, but not immediately. A second measurement on the same test, after an interval your clinician suggests, is what shows whether anything has changed. A single result on its own shows where you are, not where you are going.
What happens to my sample and my data?
Your sample is analysed by a named laboratory and handled under that laboratory’s procedures. Your results belong to you and your clinic. How we process personal data is described in our privacy policy.
Non-diagnostic. We recommend discussing your results with a healthcare professional.
